Shane Kelly

Shane Kelly, Good Samaritan His selfless actions on June 8, 2002 were an outgrowth of the values by which he lived his life. Shane died with Don Diebel as the two men stopped to assist a couple who had overturned in their vehicle. Like Don, Shane did not hesitate to offer his service when it was needed. It is those values of bravery and selflessness that we honor. Shane demonstrated a spirit of dedication to his fellow man regardless of the personal sacrifice that this might entail. He was a young man who was eagerly pursuing his goals and dreams. His natural affinity for people led to the many close relationships which brought him great joy. With this award, we acknowledged that our community has suffered the tragic loss of the rare man who is willing to unselfishly act on the behalf of others.
