Shawn Komskis Genovese

Shawn Komskis Genovese, School Shawn Komskis Genovese was a 17-year-old senior at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, FL, when he waded into a ditch with four feet of fuel-laden water to help another person. Trapped in an over-turned pickup truck were a woman and her 10-year-old son. It was clear that the fourth-grader was trapped in the truck with his arm pinned between the seat and the window. Shawn stayed with the boy, talking to him and reassuring him, for several hours until the paramedics were able to free him. Shawn’s first thoughts were for those individuals who were in trouble, rather than for himself. His attitudes, character and heroic behavior epitomize the Good Samaritan.
